Child Rescue Campaign.
Announcing our CORM and IJM Partnership!
We have some very exciting news! On January 20th, 2015, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with International Justice Mission (IJM) agreeing to provide a holistic aftercare program for young boys rescued from the fishing industry at Lake Volta. As we signed, we felt like God was giving us a high five! We have been praying that IJM would open an office in Ghana and so once we learned they were coming to Ghana, we started to pray that God would make a way for us to partner with them in this fight against child trafficking.
We will continue to fight against child trafficking in Ghana, but most of our energy will be geared toward restoration while providing a holistic quality of care for the children in our care.
For the past several years, our focus here at City of Refuge Ministries has been the prevention, intervention and restoration for the children of Ghana who have been sold by their families into the fishing industry at Lake Volta and within the fishing communities along the coast. Although community education and child rescues are an important part of what we do, we have felt the Lord leading us to focus on the restoration of these children.
Over the past several years, we have spent the majority of our time and energy on this piece of the healing puzzle, and recently we've felt a call to place a higher emphasis on holistic restoration. Restoration for our children, our teenagers, the families whose children attend Faith Roots International Academy, our community, young girls who live on the street, and our CORM staff.

Two urgent ways to help:
Sponsorship + a new Safe House Fund
One challenge we are running into is that IJM does not fund the children who they have placed in aftercare. We are asking that you pray with us that people will get onboard to help provide the monthly sponsorship needed for each child. During our last meeting with the IJM, Ghana Director he said that their first rescue will take place the end of February. As early as that time, we have agreed to care for eight boys ages 6-12. If you are interested in partnering with us to financially support one or more of these precious boys, you may do so securely on our website by clicking here.
Another challenge is our current capacity, as our Legacy Boy’s Home is filling up and we do not have space to house more children. We would love to build another boy’s home in 2015 so we can help provide desperately needed aftercare for more children. Would your church or group be interested in funding or partially funding a safe home? Please email Stacy at Stacy@cityofrefugeoutreach.com if you are interested in helping with this building project.
We are so grateful for your partnership in this invaluable work of restoration. It’s God’s heart, and we are looking forward to all that He will do in this new season ahead.
Blessings,
Johnbull, Stacy, and the entire CORM team
thank you!
